Young sailors thrilled at royal visit

PRINCESS ANNE, A KEEN YACHTSWOMAN,  has visited some of Chichester’s young sailors at the Christian Youth Enterprises Sailing Centre.

Her visit on 25 July began when she was greeted by local dignitaries and later the centre unveiled a plaque commemorating the royal visit.

As President of the Royal Yachting Association, Her Royal Highness talked knowledgeably with the staff at the Centre and took to the water to watch sailing practice, when the young people were delighted with shouts of encouragement from the Princess’s rigid inflatable boat.

CYE’s Executive Director, Norman Doney, said, “It was such a wonderful honour. As a Christian Centre, we strive to demonstrate our faith.  I hope that she, along with our guests, would have picked up something special about what we do and why we do it.”
