CLLR CAROLINE ANSELL, the prospective Conservative MP for Eastbourne and Willingdon, did not expect to become a prospective MP and explained her unlikely journey to a packed ladies’ breakfast at Martha’s Kitchen, Meads Street, Eastbourne recently.

Caroline spoke on ‘Faith in politics’, relating how, as a mum of three boys, she went from being a teacher to being in the running for Eastbourne’s next MP. She explained the valuable role her faith plays in her life.

Following the speech Caroline answered questions from the audience, which included Julie Smillie (third from right), co-leader of Suncoast Church with husband Rob Smillie, and Ruth Schmierer (second from left), who helped husband Ashley found Citycoast Church and the COC movement in the UK. Ruth said, “I enjoyed Martha’s ‘brekky’, the superb company and an excellent talk by Caroline.”
