Terror attack sadness points to resurrection gladness

By Charles Gardner

“He laid down his life for each one of us.”

An appropriate comment to hear around Easter/Passover, I’m sure you’ll agree.

The words are those of Jonathan Osborne, senior chaplain to London’s Metropolitan Police, speaking about the brave officer who died confronting a terrorist trying to attack Parliament. Read More

‘Mighty Men’ revival linked with support for Israel

By Charles Gardner

Although hundreds of thousands – perhaps millions – have been affected by it, few in the Northern Hemisphere seem to have heard of the South African revival.

I’m not referring to the 1860 awakening led by my ancestor (by adoption) Andrew Murray1, but to a current movement that is drawing huge crowds – especially men – to Christ. And it is my belief that there is a distinct correlation between this move of the Spirit and a general understanding and support of Israel, to whom Christians are indelibly attached – if we cut ourselves off from our Judaic roots, the Church cannot truly exist. South African harvest linked with support for Israel

By Charles Gardner

The South African revival to which I referred in an earlier dispatch is now in full bloom, as evidenced by an extraordinary prayer meeting attended by an estimated one million people.

The call to prayer – named It’s Time – came from farmer-evangelist Angus Buchan in response to allegations of corruption in government, an intolerable crime rate, violent student protests and immorality at many levels. Read More

It’s time British Christians rose up to say ‘enough is enough’

By Charles Gardner, Special to ASSIST News Service

DONCASTER, UK (ANS – April 27, 2017) — As we stand at the crossroads with multiple challenges before us as a nation – politically, economically and spiritually – our greatest need is prayer. But in order to be aroused to what many would see as an extreme measure, we need leaders called “for such as time as this” – men and women who refuse to be intimidated into submission to the current worldview and who recognise the urgency of the hour. Arab ACE card trumps anti-Israel campaign

By Charles Gardner

As genocide is being committed against Christians, Yazidis and even ‘dissident’ Muslims across the Arab world, the international finger of criticism continues to point at Israel.

The latest example is a UN report urging swift action to oppose and end Israeli “apartheid”, although this has since been withdrawn from the international body’s website on the orders of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres following pressure from the United States.1 Read More

President Hollande, centre, fronts the Paris ‘peace’ conference with former US Secretary of State John Kerry, centre left

Britain’s change of heart over their Israel policy is a welcome answer to prayer, and goes some way towards making  amends for their shameful betrayal when voting for January’s UN resolution aimed at delegitimising the Jewish state. Read More

Olympic athletes give praise where it is really due

By Charles Gardner

As the Olympic Games shows increasing signs of returning to its pagan1 roots, the humility amid personal brilliance of a few outstanding Christian competitors shines out like stars in a darkened universe.

And its promotion as a showpiece for world peace and unity was tarnished by the hostility shown to the 47-member Israeli delegation2 – 44 years after eleven Israeli athletes were massacred at the Munich Olympics by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. Read More

God’s love for his bride should be reflected in our marriages

By Charles Gardner

Aided and abetted by the growing aggression of the gay movement both in the West generally and in Israel – cradle of Judeo-Christian civilization – traditional marriage is facing unprecedented opposition.

South African evangelist and friend of Israel Angus Buchan, currently touring the UK, has faced strong protests over his alleged ‘homophobic’ views and was even barred from a venue in Scotland, his ancestral home.1

And for the first time ever, more humanist wedding ceremonies took place in Scotland last year than those conducted by the Church of Scotland.2 Read More
