Dr Sanjee Perera

Dr Sanjee Perera, a research fellow at the University of Birmingham, gave a keynote talk titled, ‘Where have all the black saints gone?’ at this October’s Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE) at Sandown Park, Esher.  Speaking on the first ever CRE Ladies’ Day, she examined how goodness, holiness, beauty and virtue became synonymous with whiteness, explaining that this has become a double burden for women with black and minority ethnicities.

Rachel Gardner, president of the Girls’ Brigade and director of partnerships at youth organisation Youthscape, spoke at CRE on her new book, ‘The Girl Deconstruction Project’ and shared her vision for biblical womanhood in today’s culture.
