Iraq makes Christmas a holiday

The Iraqi government has designated Christmas Day as a public holiday, encouraging the 300,000 Christians left in the 95 per cent Muslim country.

On 25 December, the Iraqi government tweeted: “Happy Christmas to our Christian citizens, all Iraqis and to all who are celebrating around the world.”
