THE UNITED STATES and Germany have raised American Pastor Saeed Abedini’s case by name at the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva. It follows an incident in which Saeed was shackled and returned to his cell without the crucial medical attention he needs for internal bleeding from prison beatings.

Representatives from both Germany and the US specifically mentioned Pastor Saeed and noted how he has been deprived of critical medical treatment in violation of his human rights.

The US also called directly for his release.

Since this appeal Saeed was finally taken to hospital but his wife Naghmeh said he needs much more medical care.
