USA: Charlie Kirk contributed to youth revival

While mainstream news outlets highlighted Charlie Kirk’s political legacy, Christian commentators credited the murdered conservative activist with a central role in the student revival in the USA.

Moments before Kirk was shot while speaking to students in Utah on 10 September, he was quoting the Bible. After sharing 2 Corinthians 5:15, he told the crowd: “Jesus Christ was a real person. He lived a perfect life. He was crucified, died and rose on the third day, and he is Lord and God overall.” Days before his death, Kirk wrote on X: “Jesus defeated death so you can live.” The post went viral

The editor of the Evangelical Times, Mike Judge, commented that Kirk was “known for his evangelical faith and he debated religious issues with atheists on college campuses”. Judge quoted another American conservative activist, Robby Starbuck, as saying: “Aside from being a father, perhaps Charlie’s greatest achievement is talking about God to young people during a time when too many were afraid to do that. “The result has been a revival on college campuses all over the nation.”
