All Eisham, 18, and Esha, 21, want for Christmas is their mother (BPCA)

Asia Bibi’s daughter and husband spoke of their impossible situation as they awaited their release as a reunited family from Pakistan.

Asia’s daughter Eisham said: “We moved around… staying away from any places where people who hate us could find us… We watch as little TV as possible – all it shows us is how many people hate us and want us dead.

Asia Bibi’s husband, Ashiq Masih, during a tour of Britain with the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need, appealing for support for the family (BPCA)

“I have cried for joy when I heard my mother would be set free, I now cry for the despair of our situation. Only God can save us all, and when I pray I have felt his presence at my darkest moments.”

Asia’s husband Ashiq Masih added: “[My daughters] are trying to piece together their frail confidence that she will return to them.”
